Most coverage stops at the moment something happens. The part that matters usually comes after.
A sanctions package gets announced and reported in a morning bulletin. Then shipping reroutes, energy contracts reprice, a currency two countries away comes under pressure, and eventually a household pays more for the same basket of goods. Those things are connected, but they rarely get written about as one story. That gap is what this site is for.
What I write about
The work is organised around three questions, which are also the three sections of the site.
- Geopolitics & Conflict. What shifted? Wars, elections, sanctions and alliances.
- Power & Markets. What did it change? How those events move capital, commodities, trade and deals.
- Explainers. How does it work? Standalone guides to the systems underneath, for readers who want the mechanism rather than a summary.
Who writes it
My name is Pratish Tikhe. I write everything published here.
I am doing my MBA at IIM Rohtak, where I work on finance, business strategy and how organisations actually make decisions. Before that I took a B.Sc. in Biotechnology, which is where I got used to research and to staying with a problem until it makes sense.
Since moving into business and finance I have worked on financial models, profitability analysis, market research, market entry strategy and M&A analysis, mostly through consulting projects and equity research. I also built an equity intelligence and portfolio research system using Excel, Python and R.
Geopolitics and international relations sit outside all of that, and they are what I keep coming back to. This site is where the two interests meet. What I like is the connection between things: businesses, markets, policy, and the decisions behind them. I am still working out where all of it leads, and I would rather say that plainly than pretend I have it mapped.

How the analysis gets made
Every article is written for this site. Nothing here is rewritten from a wire feed or assembled out of other people’s reporting. Where a piece relies on data, filings, official statements or reporting by someone else, that source is named in the text so you can check it yourself.
Where something is my reading of a situation rather than established fact, I say so in the piece. I would rather be clear about the difference than sound more certain than I am.
Nothing on this site is investment advice. Articles about markets explain what happened and why it matters. They are not recommendations to buy, sell or hold anything, and I am not a licensed financial adviser.
