This page explains what theglobaljigsaw.com collects when you visit, why it collects it, and what you can do about it. It covers the tools actually running on this site. Nothing is listed here that is not in use.
Who is responsible
This site is run by Pratish Tikhe. For any question about your data, or to ask for a copy of it or have it deleted, email contact@theglobaljigsaw.com.
What you give us directly
- Newsletter sign-ups. If you subscribe, your email address is stored so the newsletter can reach you. It is not sold or passed to anyone else, and every email has an unsubscribe link.
- Contact forms and comments. If you write in or comment on an article, what you send is kept, including your name, email address and IP address, so we can reply and moderate.
What is collected automatically
- Analytics. Google Analytics, through Google Site Kit, records which pages are viewed, roughly where visitors are, what device and browser they use, and how they arrived. This is used to see which articles get read, not to identify you.
- Performance and security. Jetpack records basic visit statistics and helps protect the site from automated attacks.
- Server logs. The web host records standard request data, including IP addresses, for security and troubleshooting.
Advertising
This site takes part in Google AdSense. Google and its partners use cookies to show ads based on your previous visits to this site and to other sites, and may use a device identifier to measure how those ads perform.
- You can turn off personalised advertising in Google Ads Settings.
- You can opt out of third-party vendor cookies at aboutads.info/choices or youronlinechoices.com.
- Google sets out its own practices in its privacy and terms pages.
Cookies are small files your browser stores. This site uses them to keep basic functions working, to measure traffic, and to serve the advertising described above. A consent banner lets you accept or decline the non-essential ones, and you can change that choice later. You can also block or delete cookies in your browser settings, though parts of the site may then work less well.
Push notifications
If you allow browser notifications, a subscription record is stored so new articles can be sent to you. You can withdraw that permission at any time in your browser’s site settings.
Content embedded from other sites
Articles sometimes embed things like videos or social media posts. Those sites can collect data about you, set their own cookies and track how you interact with the embedded content, exactly as if you had visited them directly.
How long data is kept
Comments and their metadata are kept indefinitely, so that follow-up replies can be recognised automatically. Newsletter subscriptions are kept until you unsubscribe. Analytics data is kept according to Google’s own retention settings.
Your rights
Depending on where you live, you may have the right to see the personal data held about you, to have it corrected or deleted, to object to how it is processed, or to withdraw consent you gave earlier. To do any of these, email contact@theglobaljigsaw.com. If you have subscribed or left a comment, you can ask for an exported file of the personal data held about you.
Children
This site is not aimed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal data from them. If you think a child has given us personal data, email us and it will be deleted.
Changes to this page
If this policy changes, the new version will be posted here with an updated date at the top.
